London Fashion Week SS20 at 180 The Strand
From a Friday-the-13th x Full Moon party lasting well into the depths of the night, to a Saturday in Strand at London Fashion Week. Me and Amy wake up (somewhat) bright and early on this mid-September Saturday. The feeling of effects that come from a lack of sleep and an excess of partying are soon brushed aside and replaced by those of excitement. The kind of excitement that comes with knowing you have a day of catwalks, talks, and exhibitions of beautiful creations ahead of you.
Thanks to the Private Members App Nightkey me and Amy have complimentary tickets to LFW at 180 the Strand. Once suited and (heel)booted, we make our way to Holborn. First up in the programme is a catwalk show of Alexa Chung’s newest collection. We pick up our complimentary cocktail (always an eclectic and innovative mix of exotic flavours - assimilating into their creative surroundings), head downstairs for the show, and take our seats on the last available bench.
One of the loveliest aspects of attending LFW is being surrounded by such eye-pleasing and imaginative creatives. It is just the perfect place to people-watch. Whilst we sit, sip, and wait for the show to start we treat our eyes to a glance at those who sit around and across from us. About 10 minutes and a tumbler glass later, the lights dim and the dramatic music begins.
The collection that follows is a Sixties/mod lover’s fantasy. A wealth of Chelsea boots were paired with fur and snakeskin trench-coats, A-line mini-skirts, and beautiful blouses and shirts (oh and metallic gold crop trousers of course). Quintessentially Alexa Chung through and through. The collection is familiar, but remains exciting with the addition of subtle fresh features such as a translucent white perspex trench coat.
Next up is a talk with British Vogue’s Ellie Pithers interviewing ( ) talking all things fashion and music related. The dream!
Final in our programme for the day is an in-depth look around 180 the Strand’s exhibited creations. On show was a wealth of the beautiful and the bizarre. My personal favourites included rhinestone-covered fireman helmets, beautifully-furry hot pink pants, and sequin-covered shirts (also the dream!)
